Plugins Marketplace
The marketplace has grown from 10 to more than 40 plugins in two years, with integrations from leading brands such as Baby Audio, Arturia, and Ableton.
The goal was a single system for finding and installing plugins, whether developed in-house or through partnerships.
From Discovery to Install
With the catalog growing from 10 to more than 40 plugins in two years, spanning in-house builds and partner integrations, the marketplace needed a clearer path from browsing to actually using a plugin.
Finding the right plugin The catalog view got a proper filter system, and each plugin’s detail page was rebuilt with media, install instructions, specs, and a gradient tied to the plugin’s own colors, so a Baby Audio plugin and an Arturia plugin don’t look interchangeable. The same filters turned out useful outside the marketplace too: the marketing team now uses custom filtered URLs for campaigns.
Unlocking it Plugins can be unlocked with a code from another marketplace, not just a LANDR plan, and an upsell flow was built with different states per plan so someone browsing a plugin they don’t have access to sees a clear path to get it. Notifications let users know when a new plugin becomes available in their plan.
Installing and staying current Once unlocked, downloading and installing an internal or external plugin follows the same flow either way. License management lets users control which computers run a given plugin, and notifications flag new plugin versions with a summary of what changed.
A final word
All three pieces held up after launch: the new filter system got adopted quickly, the upsell flow converted more guest users directly inside the marketplace, and notifications drove up weekly downloads, for new plugins and for updates to existing ones.
